If your visit to our site consists only of browsing, reading pages, or downloading information, then we will automatically gather and store just the following generic information (information that does not identify you personally) about your visit.

We hope that this measure will offset the overwhelming presence of pharmaceutical ads on other counselling websites. We want you to be clear that no advertiser, organization, or pharmaceutical company, at any time, has any direct influence or impact on our editorial decisions, editorial direction, or what we publish on the site thus we maintain absolute editorial independence.

The Content

This site is published by Dr Owen James (through “Tri-City Psychology Services Inc.”), for the personal education, and communication of the general public. We provide general mental health information, surveys, post-comments, quizzes, a newsletter and a blog. tricitypsychology.com’s publisher, Owen James, PhD., decides which topics should be included on the website. A goal of our editorial process is to provide consumer mental health information. New topics for the Shrink Rap and Psychobabble Newsletter are chosen based on consumer interest, new developments that influence current practice, advances in prevention and the prevalence of conditions. All text pieces, graphics and tools are subject to a standardized review process.

Terms of use with regard to questionnaires are clearly outlined prior to participation. With all articles published we go to great lengths to provide accurate, current and useful mental health information.

Our blog and newsletter also contains material created by others; news services (such as Newswise, Alpha Galileo, Eureka), government agencies (such as the National Institute of Mental Health) and non-profit organizations.

When “reproduced by the permission of the copyright owner”, notation appears at the foot of an article, the material was used with permission of the original copyright owner. The source material from other third-parties is always identified at the foot of each article.

Rights to image usage are purchased by Tri-City Psychology Services. Any images used on this site are subject to copyright and as such cannot be reproduced without the original original owner’s permission.

We do not use third party advertisement on our website. The Site may contain links to web sites maintained by third parties.  Tri-City Psychology is not responsible for the privacy practices of such third party sites.  You should carefully read their own privacy policies before providing any information to such third parties.

Advertising Policy

tricitypsychology.com is an independent publisher of mental health information and resources. With the exception of Amazon Affiliate links (see addendum) it does not receive funding or sponsorship from any outside source. Unfortunately, we have no control over advertising content that may be displayed on other sites that we link to, or which may precede any video content that is posted. Although we make every effort to include only those sites that reflect the same standards that we uphold, you visit these sites are your own risk.

Tri-City Psychology Services is an Amazon Affiliate. Books that are referenced in articles link directly to the Amazon web site. As an Amazon Affiliate if you purchase a book by linking directly from our website Tri-City Psychology Services will receive 4% to 15% of the particular sale dependent on the preceding sales for that particular month. Books that appear in the sidebar of the blog page have been selected by the editor as recommended reading. We accept no additional revenue or inducement to display these books.

Conflict of Interest

We have a conflict of interest policy for our writers and editors that requires them to reveal to us potential conflicts of interest. Conflicts of interest may be financial relationships, affiliations with groups or organizations, or personal actions. The goal of our policy is to provide consumers with health information on our site that is as free of bias as possible. We require our writers and editors to excuse themselves from working on material and projects for which potential conflicts exits, that is, where a writer or editor has a relationship that could potentially bias the person’s work on a particular topic.

We started our blog ShrinkRap in 2007. Our aim then and now, is to feature the many dimensions of health from a psychological perspective.

Our blog is moderated occasionally and posteriorly. The blog is moderated by volunteers who are employed at Tri-City Psychology Services. Internet users posting comments on this blog should not be considered as health professionals.

Internet users commenting on this blog must behave with respect and honesty at all times. Internet users may not post any commercial/ advertising links or comments. Such posts will be deleted. Internet users commenting on the blog must post information which is true and correct to their knowledge. We invite you to provide resources (references and links….) on health/medical claims where possible and relevant. Moderators reserve the right to erase posts without notification, or any comment which they would deem to be inappropriate. In addition, we inform you that the blog is moderated, and your comments will be published after approval by the moderators.
