Can I claim the cost from my Extended Health Care Benefit Plan?
Individual insurance plans can vary. We recommend that you contact your insurance provider to discuss what benefits are provided and to establish how much coverage you have and if the plan accepts direct billing. Clients whose insured benefit plan does not accept direct billing are required to pay the session fee at the time they attend. The methods of payment we accept include Visa, Master Card, American Express, Interac and cash. Receipts are issued for you to submit to your insurer for reimbursement or to apply to your medical receipts with your tax return
How many sessions will I need?
Your situation is unique, and there is no simple answer to this question. During the first session the psychologist will discuss your particular situation, and what you hope to achieve from therapy. He (or she) will then be able give you a idea of how many sessions would be required to meet your goals. Sometimes a client will only have the funding to attend for a limited number of sessions (due to the constraints of their insured benefits), when this is the case the psychologist can give you an indication of what you can realistically achieve within those constraints.
How long is a typical session? A "clinical" hour is 50 minutes. This allows the psychologist time to update your file notes and make phone calls on your behalf. These activities usually take place at the end of a session.
