XMRVA virus previously thought to be associated with chronic fatigue syndrome is not the cause of the disease, a detailed study led by UCL scientists has shown.

The new study, published in Retrovirology, identifies the source of XMRV in chronic fatigue syndrome samples as being cells or mouse DNA rather than infection by XMRV. The research does not rule out a virus cause of chronic fatigue syndrome – it is simply not this virus.

Chronic Fatigue Symptoms include extreme tiredness, problems with memory and concentration, sleep disturbances and mood swings. There is currently no accepted cure and no universally effective treatment Source: ME Association

Its in your eyes.

The face of a doll is clearly not human; the face of a human clearly is. Telling the difference allows us to pay attention to faces that belong to living things, which are capable of interacting with us. But where is the line at which a face appears to be alive? A new study published in Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science, finds that a face has to be quite similar to a human face in order to appear alive, and that the cues are mainly in the eyes. This inspirational short documentary is a story about Sandra MacKay, a woman in her mid-40’s who was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia at the age of 15. She still has the condition today, but has become a very successful individual despite immense struggles growing up with a mental illness that many people don’t understand.
