Researchers from the University of Warwick, and University College London, have found that lack of sleep can more than double the risk of death from cardiovascular disease. Researchers found that babies and toddlers whose mothers had such symptoms of anxiety and depression during pregnancy tended to have more sleep problems than other young children.

“We’ve long known that a child’s sleep is vital to his or her growth, but the origins of problems affecting it remained unclear. Now, we have evidence that these patterns may be set early on, perhaps even before birth,” said Thomas O’Connor, Ph.D., the study’s lead author. [continue reading…]
