World Mental Health Day

Reaching Out in Times of Crisis

Today, October 10th, marks World Mental Health Day. It’s a vital global moment to raise awareness and mobilize efforts in support of mental well-being for all.

This year’s focus is particularly timely: “Mental Health in Humanitarian Emergencies”. This theme highlights the critical need for psychological support during and after crises like natural disasters, conflicts, and other large-scale emergencies.

While this theme speaks to global challenges, it holds a personal resonance for all of us:

  • Emergencies are personal. A personal crisis, a major life change, or even the stress of current events can feel like an emergency to your mental health.
  • Support is essential. Just as essential supplies are needed in a disaster zone, accessible mental health support is crucial for healing, recovery, and building resilience.

On this day, we encourage everyone in the Tri-City community and beyond to:

  1. Acknowledge the Impact: Recognize that emotional distress is a normal human response to difficult times. It’s okay to not be okay.
  2. Practice Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself. Prioritize rest, nourishment, and healthy coping mechanisms.
  3. Reach Out: If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out. Whether it’s to a trusted friend, family member, or a professional, talking about your challenges is the first step toward recovery.

Do you have a query or problem that you would like to talk about, or are you curious to hear more about how we can help you?
